WEDDING DAY FAQ
I think it’s hard to find a Photographer that fits your needs & expectations. It also works like that the other way around too… how can clients fit with my/us-arty-creative-visual-types style. I guess for me, I think it’s important that the number one thing is that we get along! Yes we will spend the whole day together, yes I will get to know all your little quirks & how ‘interesting’ your family is…& yes, you will have to trust me.
Over the years & many chats with friends/ past clients/ current clients I have thought that most people, when looking for a Photographer all they really want to do is trust that person & feel at ease.
So here’s some things that might help you get to know me/ us-arty-creative-visual-types..
HOW DO I KNOW YOUR THE RIGHT PHOTOGRAPHER FOR ME?
I guess you would of seen my portfolio & thought to yourself “Yeah, I kinda like that!”. We could meet & chat over coffee (or skype). I could talk to you about how I photograph. You could talk about your ideas, your first love & how you met..you might even talk about your travels & your interests or the fact that you have a very special bond with your niece or grandfather. The more I know about you- the more I can see what is important to you. What makes up your life (with you loved one), what your story is.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER?
I have been a professional Photographer for 5 years & have studied Photography for 4 years prior. To see more specs/ publications click HERE
HOW DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH ON THE DAY?
I’m a visual story teller, which means I run around the place trying to not be seen most of the time. I like to find little secret moments. I’m not loud & bossy. I do very minimal directing because I like to capture the natural smiles. The natural moments.
DO I NEED TO SEND YOU MY PINTEREST BOARD?
Nope. It’s awesome to find wicked ideas & inspo on Pinterest for your wedding in terms of styling- but not really for Photography. You may like a particular image & that’s cool! but on your day anything can happen. The light could be totally different, your surroundings might have something even more awesome that we could focus on then you thought.
I capture as honestly as possible- I don’t copy.
WHAT DO I GET FOR MY INVESTMENT?
Quite often people are surprised at how much goes into a Wedding. Firstly, I’m there to capture your day. I treat every Wedding with individual respect…because they deserve it. Secondly, the editing process takes TIME. Lots of time. I carefully edit the images myself. This may take between 3-8 weeks, depending on how busy the particular season.
Your images will come as high resolution JPEG files on a sweet wooden USB keepsake. I guess ultimately, what you get is your big special awesome day captured in light & colour & to remember forever.
WHAT IF IT RAINS ON MY DAY?
I love rain. Rain is good. Rain is atmospheric & beautiful & allows for more spontaneity. Embrace it! yay!
HOW LONG DO I PLAN FOR PHOTOS?
I think it’s so important to keep (& plan for) time by yourself & your partner on your day. You may feel like you need to talk & mingle with everyone & be “present” on your day, but I will tell you now that you don’t! Your guests (as long as there is liquid & food flowing) are quite happy mingling amongst themselves & probably don’t even notice if your not around.
So don’t feel like you have to hurry back to the party- especially if your getting photos with your partner. I always tell couples that the photo shoot (if you don’t do them before the ceremony) really doesn’t take that long. The party will still be there when you get back & it’s really important to get away with just the two of you to have a big breather, preferably with a blanket & a picnic basket ……..& a beer. It’s a beautiful time where you can just look at each other & think, “wow, I just married you!” You will feel way more refreshed & not to mention come away with some awesome images of you both looking happy & content.
On the flip side- you can get photos done before the ceremony so you don’t miss out on the canapes! …
WHATS THE BEST TIME OF DAY FOR PHOTOS?
I love light. Most Photographers do. The best kind of light is that sunset golden hour usually between 6pm-9pm. If you can plan your day around that time then awesome. If you get most of your photos done earlier in the day however, then try & give yourself a sneaky 10 mins later in the day to run away & get that golden light- it’s so worth it!
